Nine participants create 90 artworks on 90 badges

Buttons Up… is a project in movement. Not only because it is constantly growing to the infinite, as a cell, but because it is mobile art in essence. It surpasses spaces and boundaries, even when organized by the different chosen cities. It can be everywhere and nowhere in particular. Nobody could be a witness of its existence as a totality.
9 artists from each participant city create art works in the shape of 100 badges, with the freedom of showing them in the place they wish: on a person, a place or a thing, in the gallery, the house or the street… Fidel García, James Bonachea, Jairo Alfonso, Alejandro González, Carlos José García, Alain Pino and Glenda León are participating from Havana. They accept the challenge of “what and where to show, in a 25mm area”. They join the network with very different modus operandi and discourses, that go from the painting, drawing or installation making (as it is the case of Jairo or Glenda), the video and photography (Carlos José or Alejandro), the performative work of James Bonachea, to the denial of the aesthetic element, in the case of the conceptualism of Fidel.
