Public Art Events
29 July - 23 Septembe 2008
Abbeyview,Dunfermline Fife Scotland UK
Welcome to the new programme of Public Art Events (Happenings) in Abbeyview, Dumfermline, Scotland. Look inside, and you will see that the programme starts on the D5/D6 bus at 11am on the 29 July. These events are free to attend and participate in. We look forward to seeing you.
As the Artist in Abbeyview, since Jan 2007, I have really enjoyed
my time creating artworks and collaborating with twenty two artists
in responding to Abbeyview. All of us have found support, inspiration
and surprise from everyone here. I approached this position with
a mixture of joy and risk because the notion of regeneration is
a complex one. Art cannot be in isolation; it is part of a bigger
picture, which is always changing and that makes it challenging.
This project gave us all a rare chance to be ‘here’,
where it has been possible to think and create many different art
forms.

Art as Evidence Book with Knitted Covers
Tuesday 23rd Sept, Book Launch & exhibit of the Knitted Covers.
LOCATION: St Ninians Church Allan
Crescent, Dunfermline, Fife KY11 4HE - 01383 623187
IDEA: Book Launch & exhibit of the 1000 Knitted
Covers. Writing by Daniel Jewesbury, drawings by Carol Lambie &
Nicola Atkinson Does Fly. The St Ninians Congregation in Abbeyview
have the Knitted the Book Covers. Designed by Nicola using 10 knitted
squares and one coat button.
The Minister Rev Elizabeth Fisk and the Congregation have really
got behind this art project to create a movement of knitters for
one common goal. I feel that they want to be involved in an artwork
for the Abbeyview Community for several reasons, not just for a
donation to the charity of their choice, giving the activity a real
sense of purpose and community.
