Through engaging with all the occupants of a city block in Los Angeles, Atkinson.Davidson explores how a neighbourhood can be drawn together. A fantasy landscape is overlaid on the block to bring an imaginary paradise into disparate, everyday lives. The occupants of this shared realm, both real and imaginary, are physically connected by receiving a map of the fantasy island and an abstract detail of the landscape relating to their particular location, painted by the artist. This gift to each member of the community is important as an exchange for letting an outsider in. Human and creative spirits are unified, although the link is fragmentary. The work aligns everyone for a moment.
Sponsors :- The Foundation for Art Resources Inc ( F.A.R. ) was founded in 1977 to facilitate the production and presentation of work by artists who challenge and expand the boundaries of established notions of art and art making.
